7. YouTube API Services

Moc Mallen Studio operates an internal publishing tool, the Moc Mallen Content Engine, which uses YouTube API Services to upload, publish and measure videos on YouTube channels that Moc Mallen Studio owns and operates. This section describes how that tool accesses, uses, stores and deletes data obtained through YouTube API Services.

By authorising the Moc Mallen Content Engine to access a YouTube account, you also agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service, available at https://www.youtube.com/t/terms.

Information obtained through YouTube API Services is handled by Google in accordance with the Google Privacy Policy, available at https://policies.google.com/privacy.

a. YouTube API Services we use

  • YouTube Data API v3 — videos.insert to upload video files together with their title, description, tags and privacy status; thumbnails.set to upload a custom thumbnail; videos.list and channels.list to read metadata for the authorised channel and its own videos; captions.insert to upload subtitle tracks.

  • YouTube Analytics API and YouTube Reporting API — to read performance metrics for videos on the authorised channel.

b. Data we access and store

  • OAuth 2.0 access and refresh tokens issued by Google for the authorised YouTube account.

  • The authorised channel’s ID, title and public channel statistics.

  • Video IDs, titles, descriptions, privacy status and upload timestamps of videos uploaded by the tool.

  • Aggregate performance metrics for those videos, such as views, watch time, impressions and click-through rate.

We access only YouTube accounts that Moc Mallen Studio owns and operates. We do not access the YouTube accounts of viewers or of any third party, and we do not collect personal information about viewers.

c. How we use it

  • To publish our own videos to our own YouTube channels.

  • To set the title, description, tags, thumbnail, captions and privacy status of those videos.

  • To review how our own published videos perform, so that we can plan future work.

We do not sell data obtained through YouTube API Services, do not transfer it to any third party, do not use it for advertising or ad targeting, and do not use it to build profiles of individuals.

d. Where data is stored

Authorisation tokens are stored in a restricted local configuration file on a single workstation operated by Moc Mallen Studio. Tokens are transmitted only to Google’s own authorisation and API endpoints. Metrics retrieved through the API are stored in local files used solely for our own editorial reporting.

e. Retention and deletion

  • Authorisation tokens are retained only while the authorisation is active. They are deleted from our systems immediately when access is revoked, and in any case within 30 days of the tool ceasing to be used.

  • Data retrieved through YouTube API Services is refreshed on each run of the tool. Stored copies are deleted when they are older than 30 days.

  • You may request deletion of any data we hold that was obtained through YouTube API Services by writing to mocmallen@gmail.com. We will delete it within 30 days of the request.

f. Revoking access

You can revoke the Moc Mallen Content Engine’s access to your YouTube and Google data at any time from the Google security settings page at https://myaccount.google.com/permissions (also reachable at https://security.google.com/settings/security/permissions). Revoking access immediately invalidates the tokens we hold, and we delete them from our systems.

8. Third-Party Links

Our website may contain links to third-party sites. We are not responsible for their privacy practices. We recommend reviewing their privacy policies separately.

9. Children’s Privacy

Our services are not intended for children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new effective date. Continued use of our website indicates your agreement to the changes.
